The Jenner Society
Professor Andy Morgan, a Trustee of the Edward Jenner Museum and a virologist at the University of Bristol, along with Professor Greg Poland, a physician and virologist of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester USA, have set up a new academic society to be known as the Jenner Society.
Their mission will be to create an organization that engages, supports, and sustains the professional goals of vaccinologists around the world, and perpetuates the memory of Dr. Edward Jenner.
The primary aims of the Jenner Society will be:
1) To promote biomedical research and collaboration in vaccines.
2) To encourage growth in the field of vaccinology and to mentor the next generation of vaccinologists.
3) To provide education and ongoing opportunities for professional interaction among members.
4) To honour the memory of Dr. Edward Jenner and to promote the Jenner Museum in this respect.
It is hoped that the Jenner Society will ultimately be recognized as the leading academic learned society representing vaccinology around the world.
