TV’s “Most Haunted” film at The Chantry, Berkeley
On Thursday 9th July 2009 the “Most Haunted” television crew arrived at The Chantry, Berkeley, to undertake a spot of overnight ghost hunting in the 1701 former home of Dr Edward Jenner, attempting to establish if there really is a ghost in the Attic Rooms.
After a BBC photographer Chris Sandys captured what appeared to be a ghost on film in The Chantry’s attic, the picture quickly achieved worldwide coverage within a few hours of publication, eventually being discussed on TV shows from America to Australia and generating hundreds of blog entries and discussions on the internet. The Chantry, which houses The Edward Jenner Museum, will be featured in the new series of Most Haunted; broadcast dates are yet to be finalised. Staff at the museum do not yet know the results of the investigation and are as eager as anyone to find out if the paranormal investigators headed by Yvette Fielding found any spooky activity during their nocturnal visit!
Museum Director Sarah Parker said: As a science-based museum we are interested in any scientific evidence of ghosts. With strange happenings here we have so far kept an open mind.
2009 has seen several film crews and well known personalities visiting the famous Berkeley Museum, including BBC’s the One Show, Richard Dawkins, Paul Martin and the Flog It! team, Professor Mark Horton of Coast, and Dr Stuart Prior of Perfect Weapon.
The Museum is always delighted to have film crews and welcomes the opportunity for more. We are an ideal period setting for drama or documentaries in a truly beautiful location said Sarah Parker.
