 Scope The Jenner Museum actively collects objects, photographs and documents related to smallpox, vaccination and Edward Jenner. The objects are mostly on display in the museum and include personal possessions of Edward Jenner, a small collection of vaccination and medical instruments, engravings and equipment associated with the smallpox eradication campaign masterminded by the World Health Organization (WHO). The photographic collection includes early diagnostic and record slides and prints, WHO photographs taken in the field and snaps of smallpox isolation hospitals. The documentary archive contains material relating to smallpox, variolation and vaccination, including personal reminiscences, original and photocopied extracts from books, newspapers, journals and burial registers, vaccination certificates and references to other collections. Access The collections that are on display can be viewed during normal museum opening hours. The reserve collections can be viewed by appointment by written application to the museum, preferably at least 2 weeks before you wish to visit. Staff at the museum are pleased to answer general enquiries, but regret that they are at present unable to undertake research on your behalf.
